The Faults - S/T (Lynn Point)

Comprising of three quarters of the disbanded V-Roys, it’s no surprise that there’s more than a hint of barroom alt. country on The Faults’ debut album. What was unexpected is the way that songwriter Mic Harrison has embraced power pop and fuzzy ol’ garage rock ‘n’ roll with such wanton fervour. He knows what he’s doing, too! Pristine pop choruses are underpinned with mighty power chords, the sort of stuff that gets you writing thank you letters to Pete Townshend and renewing your subscription to Amplifier. Of course they can’t shake off their roots completely and the honky tonk "Whispering Goodbye" is a highlight and, overall, twang fiends wont feel too hard done by. www.lynnpoint.com (7/10)
